Rapid City High School Soccer

It is already time to begin organizing the 2008 High School Soccer Season!!  

High School Soccer is open to all Student Athletes, it is a school sport.  It doesn't matter what Association or Club you play for through the rest of the year.

NOTE:  Player is to be present at registration, so they can sign the appropriate documents.

Cost remains $175.00.  The fee you pay covers insurance, player fee, and guarantees field space for tryout and training.  THERE HAS BEEN ONE CHANGE WITH THE REGISTRATION FEE!!!  You must write Two checks - one for $25 and another for $150.  The $25 check is a non-refundable tryout fee.  The $150 will be refunded if your player is not selected. 

  • Mandatory paperwork to bring is Birth Certificate, Registration Fee, Small Head Shot Photo, Current Physical (No player will set foot on a tryout field without a current physical - documented and on file...NO EXCEPTIONS).  All other paperwork will be available at registration and notary's will be on site.

Since soccer is NOT offered in the middle schools, players are allowed to tryout for a High School team ONLY BY INVITATION FROM THE RESPECTIVE HEAD COACH and if selected they are allowed to play Varsity or JV as determined by the coach (they DO NOT have to be selected for the Varsity team).   

Here are the rules set forth for 8th graders in the Rapid City Public Schools -

(High School Tryouts are not open to all 8th Graders)

  1. Eighth graders may only tryout by invitation from the HEAD COACH of the Varsity team.  The JV or assistant coaches can make recommendations but only the Varsity coach can invite the player.  An invitation to tryout does not garuntee placement on either team, it's only to tryout.
  2. They MUST have a current High School physical prior to the first day of tryouts (No player will set foot on a tryout field without a current physical - documented and on file...NO EXCEPTIONS). 
  3. The coach must make a decision on whether an 8th grader will continue after the fourth day of tryouts and inform that player and his/her family.   If players are not asked to continue, they can return to their respective club or recreational program. 
  • If the head coach asks the player to return the fifth day, a "Petition for an Exceptional Athlete" must be started that day in order for them to continue. 
  • This form is available at the respective High School's Athletic Department and must go through an approval process and be signed by the High School Athletic director, The Middle School Principle, the Middle School Activities Director (AD), the parents/guardian, and the player. 
  • Once a player is asked to return the fifth day, he/she cannot be cut and will be placed on either the Junior Varsity or Varsity roster.

NOTE ~ If a player makes the High School team they are NOT allowed to dual roster with a club or recreational team - and - they are not released by the High School program until after the State High School Soccer Tournament.  Club players may return and train with their respective teams but not participate in any fall tournaments.
